Running through the aisles
Time does fly! Now we are at the point of gathering those last minute gifts for our loved ones. We have all year to be sneaky and throw out gift suggestions and also, memo them, but for some reason we still leave gifts for last minute. I'm super guilty of this! No shame what so ever. Gift giving can be extremely rewarding especially if your heart is put into it and its super thoughtful. I'm here for ALLLLLL of that! A gift doesn't have to be worth (breaking the bank) its really the thought that counts above everything. Tis' the season to not go broke but, to gift with ease and thoughtfulness .. I promise you these are sometimes the best gifts.
So let's get into these gift given idea's .. I like to think of christmas as wants, instead of needs. Birthdays I think more of needs and less of wants, but then again I like to think of experiences too. If you can afford an experience as a gift! That's a lifetime memory. Here's some of my favorite things to give as gifts : Trip to the spa (60 min massage, including bubbly - of course, fruits), succlents, Groupon - don't sleep : trip to see some of the hottest shows for affordable prices - such as Christmas Spectacular, Wine tasting and horse back riding -- I found this really dope website i'll share it (discoveroutdoors.com), Nordstrom.com has thee best selection on gifts in my opinion if you need to pick up last minute gifts for him or her, Todaytix is an awesome app for Broadway/ performance lovers, Paint and Sip, Helicopter ride through NYC. As you can tell I've listed experiences and less materalistic things because experiences are forever.
I like the forever memory. However, if you're playing Mr/Mrs Clause be sure to check out each christmas list and add your own meaning to each gift. When I say meaning, add a personal touch it makes all the difference. It's not about QUANTITY, its about the QUALITY. I can go on and on about gift giving -- forgot to add some of my favorite books to the gift giving list if you love to read : Year of Yes - Shronda Rimes, The Four Agreements & The Mastery of Love - Don Miguel Ruiz, The Sun and her Flowers/ Milk and Honey - Rupi Kaur (Poetry), Bad Feminist - Roxanne Gay (if you like to debate a little), 101 Essays that will change the way you think- Brianna Wiest, The Soul is a River- Nikita Gill(Poetry). Books I look forward to picking up this holiday season : The art of letting go - M.p Frias, The subtle art of not giving a f*ck-Mark Mason, You're a badass- Jen Sincero, To the Men I've Loved- Michelle Marmol.
Oh one more thing .. fragrances for her - heres some of my FAV'S : Sexy Amber - Michael Kors, Burberry Classic - (if you know me! you know this is my signature), Kenneth Cole- White, Britney Spears- Naughty Night.
Just a few things to get you through the christmas holiday rush. If push comes to shove, you can always do a self- care package. Buy a bunch of that person's favorite things and create a cute basket of just for him or her things such as : fuzzy socks, cigars, chocolate (if she's anything like me), bourbon (if thats his cup of tea)/ wine -- bubbly duh, tickets to his favorite game, his favorite fruit/hers, his/favorite snacks, his/favorite brand of undies or lingerie. etc this is super fun and can be affordable if you pick up all of the little things thats important to him/her, could even be a bus pass or metrocard added to the many gifts.
Thoughtfulness wins! At the end of the day I hope everyones last minute running around is nothing short of amazing and your loved ones are elated to just be in your presence during this super warm time of the year. No matter how big or small it is -- in gift giving if all else fails words always always leave an imprint, create a photo album or hand write a card. Super nostalgia but, oh so worth it ... in the card say something along the lines like .. Meet you Italy (xx-xx-xxxx) or whatever destination. Cute. mysterious and unexpected.
Hope all my babbling helps someone!
As always with lots of love and bubbly
